Originally formed in 1892, Ben Avon Volunteer Fire Company is the second oldest fire company in the North Boroughs, being preceded by Sewickley (Cochran Hose Company) by 16 years. Station 109 is an all volunteer fire company located approximately 6 miles north of the City of Pittsburgh, on Rt. 65 in Southwestern PA. Ben Avon Volunteer Fire Company operates 1 engine, 1 heavy rescue, and 1 aerial truck and runs between 200 & 250 calls a year. We provide mutual aid to 8 departments in the surrounding area for fire and rescue services. Ben Avon V.F.C. also provides RIT services (along with Station 148 Emsworth) to approximately 8 other area departments. We along with Stowe Twp. provide RIT services to the Pittsburgh International Airport. We have an ISO rating of 5.
